This is a custom made, long range hunting rifle from Night Owls Gunsmithing from Taylorsville, Utah. The rifle is based on a Remington Model 700 bolt action rifle and chambered in the rare 9.3x64mm Brenneke. The rifle was built on a new 700 long action and was trued and partnered with a Shilen custom 27-inch barrel with integral machined Seekins brake. The bolt has a polished bolt with knurled bolt. The rifle also has a custom Bell and Carlson aluminum bed stock that was then glass bedded by Night Owls and shows a foregrip swell, pistol grip drop and raised cheek area. The stock has a custom black and grey web finish. The rifle has a linear cut curved trigger; the trigger is possibly a Timney Trigger, as these were used often in Night Owl’s builds, but this is not a confirmed part. Night Owls, or Nightowls, has since closed and their builds are scarce. The owner, Ray Federico, was a master gunsmith and has since retired. The rifle has marked on the barrel on the left, “9.3x64 BRENNEKE”, is marked on the right, “2001 NIGHT OWLS”, and is marked on the action, “E6331689 REMINGTON MODEL 700”. This is an amazing custom build that likely cost $2,000-$3,000 at the time. Modern firearm requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background check.
