This is an excellent, handwoven flat weave rug by master weaver, Pablo Montaño. This rug was made using 100% soft, fine, handspun yarns in a beautiful, Third Phase Chiefs Blanket style Stair step pattern. The rug was handwoven with a tight weave using 100% handspun wool yarns that offer natural variegation and durability with color fast aniline dyes. The tight, handwoven weave, displayed with bright rich tones, is in the fine Promontory pattern of the time-honored Zapotec, multi-generational craft by a master weaver, Pablo Montaño. The rug shows a phenomenal, Navajo Third Phase Chiefs Blanket style Stair step pattern with fantastic symmetrical design and decoration to this rug. The third phase style of Navajo chief’s blanket, for many collectors, may be the most artistic of the chief’s blankets. Composed of nine diamonds or cross formations, this particular rug shows a stair step pattern to the medallion in the center and it shows a wonderful arrangement of geometric patterns with a white field, red stair step design, and navy blue accents with a black border end on either side of the rug. This rug shows braided, white wool tassels on all four corners. The piece is brand new, in pristine condition, with a fine, tight weave. The rug measures 4’ by 6’ (4 foot by 6 foot). This is a brand-new rug.
