This is an amazing extremely fine crafted beaded warrior doll by Donna Shakespeare-Cummings a master craftsman from the Northern Arapaho Native American Indians of the 20th Century. This piece is titled “Walks Alone” and was made in 2006 and is signed on the base of the solid hardwood carved / hewn base. The piece has won several awards including best of show. The piece shows an Indian tanned hide very large Warrior figure with many incredible pieces attached to the man which would have been found on a Chief or Warrior of the 19th Century. First the piece shows a feathered headdress war bonnet with beaded brow band and ermine drops, then a four-strand bone choker at the neck with shell gorget, next is a wonderful fringed war shirt with beaded panels and breast plate. The piece also shows fully beaded gauntlet gloves, bone and brass warrior breast plate, beaded breech clout, leather belt, holding a real metal pipe tomahawk miniature with diamond shaped wood haft, holding in his hand is a bifurcated beaded pipe bag and cord of tobacco. Also shown are beaded leggings with rich thick hide fringe and fully beaded Buffalo track design. All the beadwork shown on this piece is incredibly and scarce petit glass trade seed beads, a very small size done in incredible detail, likely the finest beaded doll ever created. The piece also shows real human hair and is in pristine condition. Provenance: From a historic Eastern Montana American Indian Collection where the piece was found to be an authentic original, one of the finest collections of American Indian weaponry and antiquities in Montana.
