The lot features an excellent set of hide beaded legging cuffs from the Northern Cheyenne Native American Indians dating to the 19th Century. The set shows a pre-1890 set with Indian tanned hide and sinew sewn construction with all period correct glass trade seed cen beads in a geometric pattern typical of Cheyenne pieces with background of medium blue and other colors of greasy yellow, red white hearts, cobalt and greasy medium green. The set shows the original hide ties and fancy beaded edge along the bottom and inside edge in cobalt. The set is in very good condition for its early age with little to no bead loss and fine detailed beadwork. The set would have likely been used by a young warrior, possibly his first set. Provenance: From a historic Eastern Montana American Indian Collection, where the piece was found to be an authentic original, one of the finest collections of American Indian weaponry and antiquities in Montana. Measures each 9”L by 5.5”.
