Included in this lot is a Northern Hotel Special cigar box from the early 1900's. The Northern Hotel was constructed in 1902 and completed in 1904 and was the most modern hotel in Montana. It is located in downtown Billings and operated from 1904 to 1940, when it burned to the ground in a sudden fire. The hotel was reconstructed and later sold in 2009. This cigar box shows natural wood construction with a metal latch. The piece is marked across the top, reading "Northern Hotel Special Billings Made by Gonzalez, Fisher & Co. Tampa, FLA." It also reads "Boite Nature" on the sides and "Coronas" across the front. The bottom of the piece is marked with information on the manufacturing company in FL. The piece shows good condition overall, with some wear on the interior. The cigar box measures 9 1/4" wide by 6 3/4" deep and 2 3/4" tall.
