The lot features a carved wood riding quirt with brass tacked adornment with Indian hide wrist throng and straps attributed to the Northern Plains Native American Indians. The piece shows a notch-cut wood pattern with round pommel end having a hole at the center holding the old Indian tanned hide wrist throng at the front a square cut section holding two Indian tanned hide straps. The piece shows brass covered metal tacks in cross and other patterns. The wood has old faded black and red paint remnants with obvious dings and wear from age and use. The hide has some stiffness from age and staining. Provenance: From the Tom Hardy Collection of Indianapolis where the piece was said to be from the 1890’s. Measures overall 12”L.
