The lot features a parfleche beaded sheath with old rasp file stag handled knife, both attributed to the Sioux Native American Indians of the Plains. The knife shows a rasp file, which has been fashioned into a nice heavy knife and is set into the Stag antler with poured led pewter and is peened over at the end. The antler horn has a dark red to brown coloring with yellowing, an honest antique, 1800's patina. The sheath is parfleche rawhide with hide lacing sewing and an Indian tanned wrapping at the top, which is trade thread sewn on and has excellent geometric glass trade seed beadwork. The beadwork shows Cheyenne pink, light blue, semi-transparent pink, greasy blue, and cobalt. Below the beadwork is Indian hide tied with rolled tin jingle dangle cones. At the base are two Indian hide ties with rolled tin jingle dangle tones with red stroud wool fringes. The back of the sheath has the original Indian hide tie. Truly a fantastic pairing. The knife measures overall 8.75" L with the sheath being 15.5" L with fringe and tie strap.
