Featured in this lot is this authentic, original catlinite 90 degree pipe bowl from the Northern Plains Native American Indians. The pipe bowl shows a 90 degree catlinite construction with triple rims on the top and side of this bowl. Catlinite, also called pipestone, is a type of argillite (metamorphosed mudstone), usually brownish-red in color, which occurs in a matrix of Sioux Quartzite. The condition of this pipe bowl is good, with no obvious signs of damage and patina consistent with age. The measurements of this pipe are 1 1/2" x 1 3/4" x 7/8".
