For your consideration is this Northern Plains catlinite calumet sacred bird pipe stem circa early 1900's. The pipe shows catlinte construction and shows a rare desirable and period correct "T" shape and shows a rich red coloring with a pictorial sacred bird head to the front. The bowls shows a rectangular stem end which flows into a round cavity with flat base connecting to the round thin deep pipe bowl and ending in a pointed octagonal tip. The piece shows a wonderful light to dark red coloring and excellent black like patina with soot filled bowl, as the piece had been used. The condition of this pipe stem is good with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of this pipe stem are 3 1/4" x 5 3/4" x 1".
