The lot features an unusual woman's bonnet, completely covered on the top and sides with beadwork, from the Northern Plains Native American Indians of the early 1900's. Bonnets such as this were immensely popular during the 1800's and often seen worn by frontierswomen or settlers of the American West. This example features a striped trade calico trade cloth construction with a light, slightly pink satin ribbon ruffled border at the front and two of the same green striped fabric ties. The entire top and sides of the bonnet are covered in glass trade seed beadwork in a geometric pattern with a background of greasy white heart, corn yellow, cobalt, greasy white, and semi-transparent rose. This is truly a unique and interesting piece that is in good overall condition. Measures 22"L when flat by 11.5"W.
