Included in this lot we have a Northern Plains Native American painted buffalo hide originating from the 20th century. The American bison, also commonly known as the American buffalo or simply buffalo, is a North American species of bison that once roamed the grasslands of North America in massive herds. The buffalo hide shows a wonderful fur in very good condition for the age. The hide is painted on the flesh side with geometric Native American designs. The artist has also painted hunters on horseback with their prey the buffalo surrounded by birds in flight. At the bottom of the hide is a collection of teepees. The painting displays vibrant black, yellow, red, and white colors. The piece is singed on the bottom "Black Horse". The hide shows good condition with some signs of repair. The buffalo hide measures 104" long by 87" wide.
