For your consideration is this 1940-50s tin and wood NuGrape soda sign. Early in the 20th century, a grape-flavored soda called NuGrape became very popular, especially in the South of the country. The Moxie Company, which subsequently changed its name to the NuGrape Company, was the company that first introduced the NuGrape brand in 1906. NuGrape encountered intense competition from other soft drink producers in the early to mid-20th century, particularly as the market for carbonated beverages grew. In spite of this, NuGrape was able to retain a devoted following of customers, primarily because of its distinct taste and successful advertising campaigns. The company's ownership and management had changed several times over the years, and its operations adjusted to the changing soft drink market dynamics. The company is still producing the drink to this day. The sign shows a wood frame with the sign being constructed out of tin. It shows a yellow colored tin with the top reading, "Drink NuGrape / Imitation Grape - Not Grape Juice / A Flavor You Can't Forget". The middle of the sign shows a hand holding a bottle of NuGrape. The bottom of the sign reads, "Demand It In This Bottle". The sign shows fair to good condition as the sign itself shows fading to the color and wear overall, but no signs of major damage is present. The sign measures 37" L x 15 1/4" W x 1 3/8" D.
