For your consideration is this Oak three section barrister bookcase made by Macey Co. The Macey Company was founded in 1896 by Fred Macey in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The company produced oak card indexes and file systems, sectional bookshelves, library tables, etc. In 1905 Macey merged with Wernicke Furniture and changed the name to Macey-Wernicke. In 1907, the name was simplified to The Macey Company. Macey continued making furniture until 1940, when the plant in Grand Rapids closed. This Sectional Barrister Bookshelf was made circa 1926. It features quarter-sawn oak with glass doors that open and slide back along the top of the section. Each sectional division is concealed along the sides of the bookcase with a metal band. The piece can be dismantled into five pieces: a top crown molding, three sectionals and a base on four legs. The top sectional measures 14.5" tall and is labeled "Macey/ 912/ Finish 2". The middle sectional is 10.5" tall and is labeled "Macey/ 98/ finish 2. The thrid sectional is 12.5" tall and is labeled "Macey/ 910/ Finish 2". Overall total dimensions are 50.25" tall x 34" wide x 11" deep. The back left leg has a couple of nicks (see photos), but overall this bookcase is in very good condition for its age.
