This is a rare original work of art bronze sculpture by renowned Montana artist, Robert (Bob) Scriver titled,"On Big Dry Creek" or "N-N Longhorn Steer". In the 1880-1890's there was a ranch on Big Dry Creek, Montana (now Fort Peck, MT) that Charles M. Russell was acquainted with. He painted a couple of Cowboys chasing a N-N Steer in 1904. This piece is modeled after this iconic piece. Robert Scriver (1914-1999) was born in Browning, Montana (in the heart of the Blackfoot Indian Reservation) in 1914. Scriver began sculpting using taxidermy to learn his craft of making wildlife bronzes. By 1962 he became a charter member of the Society of Animal Artists, had been accepted into the prestigious Cowboy Artists of America, listed in Who’s Who in American Art, and a member of the National Sculpture Society, and the National Academy of Western Art. This is a Lost Wax Bronze Casting and shows a walnut base. The piece is signed and titled in the bronze and is a limited edition number 6/100 circa 1993. A Certificate of Authenticity and detailed biography of the artist is included. Sculpture measures overall 11 5/8"H x 12.5"W x 6.5"D. Bob Scriver bronzes have been valued at over $30,000-$50,000. He is believed to be "The Cowboy’s National Sculptor" and one of the finest Montana bronze artists of the 20th century.
