Presented in this lot is an Original Acrylic on Canvas, Signed A. Harvey 1984. This original painting appears to be in the style of John Nieto. John Nieto was one of America’s most influential contemporary artists. He concentrated on themes that have no limit in deeper meanings. He painted saturated and vivid portraits of people and animals. He applied bold strokes to add dimension and a geometric character to the canvas. In his etchings and drawings, Nieto employed classic linear techniques to create images of great detail and depth. In all his art Nieto projected sensitivity and respect for his subject. Nieto sought to evoke a reaction or response from the viewer from his bold imagery. His art is a synthesis of his philosophy and his technical versatility, a powerful expression of pride and vitality. Nieto is unique among contemporary American artists. His personal philosophies were a vital element of his signature style. Nieto stated, “I employ a subject matter that is familiar and express it the way I see it, with vibrant color and assertive line” The combination of sensitivity and technical versatility became the vehicle that allowed him to transcend the ordinary. Incorporating vibrant colours and Native American ceremonial culture, this painting has a dynamic quality that seems to transcend the canvas. This painting is in good overall condition. The wood stretcher metal frame is in good overall condition, scratches noted to frame edges. 25.75"W x 35.5"L
