Featured in this lot we have an original framed Ace Powell painting titled "Reservation Brave". Ace Powell (American 1912-1978) was a famous Montana painter, sculptor and etcher who focused on the American Indians, cowboys, horses and wildlife of our great Big Sky state. His artwork was influenced by fellow Montana artist, Charles M. Russell. Ace was married to Nancy McLaughlin-Powell and father to Dave Powell. This portrait depicts a Native American brave from the shoulders up. The brave is depicted in a black wide brimmed hat with a decorative eagle feather and braided hair tied with red ribbon. The portrait shows wonderful use of color and excellent detail. The piece is signed in the bottom left hand side reading "Powell" with his iconic Ace of hearts playing card. The art is set into a gilt gold frame with red and black painted lines and a canvas border around the piece. The front of the frame shows a brass plaque reading "Reservation Brave Ace Powell 1912- 1978". The piece shows good condition overall with some light wear due to age. The frame measures 20" wide by 24" tall with the art measuring 11 1/2" wide by 15 1/2" tall.
