Included in this lot is an original, signed Carl Tolpo “Mt. Massive” oil painting from 1939. Carl Tolpo was born in Ludington, Michigan in 1901. During the course of his career, he established his reputation as a portrait, genre, and landscape painter, as well as a portrait and figure sculptor. As a painter, his works in fine oil portraiture particularly include state portraits and landscape oil paintings of the western USA, mostly the Yellowstone Park region. His works are on display in the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This painting shows a valley in the forefront with a mountain range in the background and a grey cloudy sky above. This painting is signed on the bottom right corner "Mt. Massive, Colo. Aug 29- 5 PM. Carl Tolpo". This piece is in good condition for its age and measures 20" by 16".
