Featured in this lot is this original ink and pen study drawing for True West Magazine article of Captain Custer's Last Moments according to Waterman an Arapaho Indian by Dave Powell CAA artist and son of Ace Powell. The drawing features a wonderfully and professionally crafted ink and pen construction and is based on the accounting of Waterman an Arapaho Indian present at the Battle of Little Big Horn. The quote reads as follows: When I reached the top of the hill I saw Custer. He was dressed in Buckskin, coat, and pants. And was on his hands and knees. He had been shot through the side and there was blood coming from his mouth. He seemed to be watching the Indians moving around him - Waterman, Arapaho. The scene depicts just that statement with Custer in the center of the background fighting happening around him with blood coming from his mouth and the scene of dead and dying men and horses around him and Native warriors closing in around him.
