Featured in this lot is this original Ink and pen Study drawing titled " At a place called Little Big Horn" by CAA artist Dave Powell son of Ace Powell. This is an original ink and pen drawing done as a study for a larger project mainly a mural he intended to complete and was most likely used as a pitch project for said mural. The drawing shows two run away horses with a man falling out of the saddle and hanging on for dear life as they run away into battle with arrows raining down on them. The artwork is marked in the bottom right hand corner and is signed in the artwork "Dave Powell (with his hallmark) - Study. Dave Powell (born 1954) is a contemporary Western artist rooted deeply in Montana, with four generations of family heritage tied to the region’s rugged landscape and cowboy culture. The son of artists Ace Powell and Nancy McLaughlin Powell, Dave inherited a rich artistic lineage. Primarily self-taught, Dave began serious art training in his mid-teens. He benefited from mentorship and collaboration with celebrated Western artists, including Bob Scriver, Ned Jacob, Robert Lougheed, and Joe Beeler, the founder of the Cowboy Artists of America (CAA). The condition of this pen and ink study is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage and shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this study is 8 5/8" x 11 1/4".
