This is an original Joseph Henry Sharp (1859-1952) framed etching titled "White Swan-Crow". J.H. Sharp was an American artist and founding member of the Taos Society of Artists. He is best known for his Native American Indian portraits and Western landscapes. Among his many accomplishments, President Theodore Roosevelt commissioned him to paint 200 portraits of the Indian warriors who survived the Battle of the Little Bighorn. This etching shows a wonderful depiction of the Crow Indian warrior, White Swan. It has been signed in the plate "J.H. Sharp". and is marked below the image "White Swan-Crow 117/227". The etching shows very good condition and has been professionally matted and framed. The image size is 3.75" x 5.5" and the frame measures 12.5" x 15.5".
