Featured in this lot is an Original Signed Eddie Foy Photograph, circa 1881-1918. Provenance: Tombstone Western Heritage Museum, Tombstone, Arizona. Edwin Fitzgerald (1856-1928), known professionally as Eddie Foy and Eddie Foy Sr., was an American actor, comedian, dancer and vaudevillian. He gained his first professional recognition in the mining camps and cow towns of the West, beginning around 1878. While performing in Dodge City, Kansas, Foy became acquainted with Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson, and Doc Holliday. In October of 1881, Foy performed at the Birdcage Theater in Tombstone, Arizona when the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral occurred on the 26th of that month. The profile photograph (photographer unknown) displays Foy looking to his right, wearing a coat, high collar shirt and tie with a diamond horseshoe tie tack. Below his left coat collar is his signature, "Truly Yours Edwin Foy". The photograph is mounted to a gold gilt dentil edge, heavy board. The lower border has "EDWIN FOY." in faded gold gilt over a dark blue background. The photograph is in a clear protective sleeve with the museum label at the top, "EDWIN FOY - TOMBSTONE - DODGE CITY ACTOR FRIEND OF BAT MASTERSON".
