Featured in this lot are Original Signed Jessica Zemsky Watercolours (2), Framed, circa late 1900s to early 2000s. Jessica Zemsky (1923-2024) was a Western artist from Big Timber, Montana. She created timeless images, mostly of children, through her colourful imagery and extraordinary perspective on life. Her work often depicted Montana home life in expressive detail. Many of the models for her paintings were local children from the Big Timber farm and ranch community, many dressed in pioneer-era clothes. Her art can be found in many public buildings, galleries, and private collections, with 30 original children's portraits gracing the halls of St. Vincent's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Billings, Montana. With her then husband, Jack Hines, she established the Northwest Rendezvous of Art in the 1970s. Northwest Rendezvous of Art is one of the Montana Historical Society's largest fundraiser events. The first watercolour features a young girl wearing a period calico dress and a whimsical hat, seated on a spindleback rocking chair and holding a stuffed doll. Behind her there is a steamer trunk on the floor of the room and a double-hung window is alongside her letting in the sunlight from outside. The second watercolour features two young girls kneeling on a rug covered floor, both wearing Victorian era chiffon dresses and whimsical hats. The soft pastel colours of both watercolours evoke the joys and innocence of childhood. Both pieces are professionally mounted and are in very nice condition, gold gilt dentil designed trim matted wood frames are in good overall conditions, scuffing observed to frame edges. Visible art measures 9.25" in circumference each, frames are 16"W x 16"L x .875"D each. Combined weight is 5lb, 8oz.
