Featured in this lot is this Oscar Crockett silver mounted spur pair, circa 1910. The spurs show iconic Crockett construction with silver mounted accents decorated with floral decoration, with the Crockett hallmark shown on the bottom of the heel band. The outside strap lag is decorated with floral decorated silver buttons. Oscar Crockett was born in Pecos City, Texas and learned to make bits and spurs by watching his older brother. Oscar worked in blacksmith shops and would partner up with George Gliem for a year or two before starting his own shop in Oklahoma; he eventually worked for C.P. Shipley. In 1920, Crockett bought Shipley’s bit and spur making department and started the Crockett Bit and Spur Company. The condition of this pair of spurs is good, with oxidation and patina consistent with the age of the spurs. The measurements of this pair of spurs are 4 1/2" x 4" x 1 1/4".
