Included in this lot is this scarce First Edition of "Our National Parks" written by John Muir and published in 1901. This was Muir's second book, and is comprised of ten articles previously published in The Atlantic Monthly. "Our National Parks" is a fantastic guide to the wild mountain forest reservations and national parks of the United States, exploring their beauty and usefulness in an attempt to encourage contemporary readers to go out and enjoy the natural wonders of North America. John Muir (1838–1914) was an influential Scottish-American naturalist who campaigned extensively for the preservation of America's wilderness lands. He co-founded the Sierra Club and is often referred to as the Father of the National Parks.
This green cloth gold gilt stamped book is in good overall condition, a gold gilt stamped image of Sequoia trees adorns the front cover, cover and spine have very slight scuffing. Gold gilt top edge, intact pages appear deckled, age tanning and very slight foxing noted. Measurements are 5.25"W x 8.25"L x 1.5"D
