Included in this lot is a Papago Indian hand woven basket by Eva Gregorio, circa 1940. The Papago Tohono O'odham (People of the Desert) are located in Arizona and are known for their weaving skills. This basket features tight weaving of yucca and bear grass, with a bird in flight and diagonal pattern circling the basket. The rim of the basket features a zigzag stitching. This piece features a tag, stating that it is a "Papgo Indian Handcraft from Kitt Peak Arizona Made by Eva Gregorio at Gu Achi". On the back of the tag is an explanation of Papago baskets. This basket is in excellent condition for its age. The basket measures 14" by 4".
