Featured in this lot is this thick coil and segmented serving basket from Papago Tohono O'odham from early-to-mid 1900's. There are two baskets in this collection; the first is a smaller thick woven, naturally dyed portion serving tray that would have been used for serving the allotted portion for meals. The basket features soft wood feet to keep the basket off the ground. The second is a segmented woven serving basket with a lid and twisted carrying handle that was meant to keep heat centralized before a meal. The condition of these baskets is good and well-preserved, with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of these baskets are 1 5/8" x 4 3/4" x 4 3/4"; the larger vessel measurements are 9" x 8" x 8 1/2".
