The lot features a Penobscot Northeastern Native American Indian carved burl ball head war club from the 19th Century. This examples has a traditional ball head pattern with solid all one piece hand carved construction having a brand with bark on haft handle having a downward curved root burl ball head. The piece has a dark coloring and deep patina from honest very early age. The bottom of the gripping area has a drilled hole. The club overall has a dark coloring and shiny patina from honest age and use and polished carved round knob end and polished carved ball head with irregular root burl appearance, common amongst authentic Penobscot Northeastern (Maine) Native American Indian examples such as this. Provenance: From a large Iowa private collection of weapons and Native American beadwork. Measures overall 23.5”L with the head being approximately 4”x4.5”x4”.
