For your consideration is an Antique Persian Kerman Hand-woven Turkish Knot Wool Rug, 1940s to 1950s. Kerman carpets (sometimes "Kirman") are one of the traditional classifications of Persian carpets. This term refers to a design of all-over stylized flowers and oversized palmettes with vases placed at intervals throughout the field. Kerman is both a city and province located in south central Iran. Kerman has been a major center for the production of high quality carpets since at least the 15th century. The dyeing process for Kerman carpets took place while the wool was still in flock before spinning, allowing for uniform color. The colour palette for Kerman carpets is widely varied. This rug features floral and geometric motifs in a central medallion and border in soft pastel colours of pink, blue, black and purple against a gold field. Some staining and repairs noted, overall nice condition. Measures 48"W x 73"L.
