In this lot is a unique item. This is a Telephone Stowage brass box taken from a Coast Guard Cutter. The box measures 9 3/4" X 6 1/2 X 10 1/2" (not including the mounting brackets). This box is reported to come from a USCG cutter that was launched July 31st 1965. Brass items were standard but over time due to the maintenance needed the box was painted white to match the ship. In 1977 this box was replaced with an aluminum one and it was placed in a scrap room. In 1978 it was found and the person decided to restore it, rather than throw it out. The box has its original plates with serial numbers intact as well as 5 Mounting Bolts and nuts. With this treasure is also a letter written telling its story and a photo of the ship. This box is in excellent restored condition. All proceeds from this items will go to the Montana Counsel of the Boy Scouts of America.
