Featured in this lot are twelve, photo postcards from various photographers showing various locations and people circa early 1900s, from the ex-collection of the C.M. Russell Museum and John Kleinschmidt. Four post cards are prints, while the other eight are real photo postcards. The photos include photographers such as J. Kitchen, B.L. Brigham, Post's Studio, Ralph Doubleday and L.A. Huffman. The photo postcards show scenes such as, Lieut. J.J. Crittenden painting a cross at the Custer Battle site, hunting of elk, Bull Head and White Bear, Apache Chief Geronimo, a small house, Craterville, Oklahoma Native Americans, Buffalo on the Wichita Game Refuge, J.D. Allen's taxidermied buffalo and a Native American camp near Lake Latonka. Some of the photo postcards have show writing on the back, but is limited and clean. They show good condition overall with some wear present from their age and use over the years, but no major damage is noted. They are set in plastic sleeves to preserve their condition. They measure 5 1/2" L x 3 3/8" W and have a collective weight of under 6 ounces.
Provenance: From the John Kleinschmidt collection which was on loan to the C.M. Russell Museum from 1987 to 1993 and included in the "The Cowboy West: 100 Years of Photography 1992-1993 exhibit.
