Featured in this lot is a 1950's Plains Indian Pipestone War Club Axe Head. The pipehead, or catlinite, axe head shows a rich brown-red color and skilled carving. Plains Indians, or Indigenous people of the Great Plains and Canadian Prairies are the Native American tribes and First Nation band governments who have traditionally lived on the greater Interior Plains (i.e. the Great Plains and the Canadian Prairies) in North America (wikipedia). This head shows good condition and measures 5" x 2.5".
