The lot features a bi-point stone war club / dance club from the Plains Native American Indians and dating to circa 1880. The piece shows a bi-point stone carved head secured with a wrapping of parfleche into the grooved ridge and hole holding the wood haft. The wood haft is completely covered in parfleche rawhide which has a red ocher mineral pigment coloring and is sewn with parfleche rawhide lacing. The piece has a solid condition and is thought to be a dance club due to the shiny surface and clean pointed head, unlike war club examples which have more rounded points and rough surface from excessive use.
