Featured in this lot is this Pre Columbian carved ribbed hammering tool circa 1500 BCE to 400 BCE. The hammering tool features a wonderfully and professionally crafted chert material with a light brown and dark brown coloration with a rounded end and slender handle for the tool. Pre-Columbian scrapers are tools used by indigenous peoples of the Americas for various purposes, primarily to process animal hides and other materials. These scrapers date back thousands of years and were essential for everyday tasks, such as preparing hides for clothing, shelter, or ceremonial use. They are commonly found in archaeological sites across North, Central, and South America and vary in design based on regional cultures, material availability, and specific functions. The condition of this Pre Columbian hammering tool is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage but otherwise shows a good overall condition. The measurements of this hammering tool is 6 1/8" x 3 1/2" x 2". The collective weight of this hammering tool is 1lb 12oz.
