This is a second edition. John Warner Barber (1798–1885) was an American author, engraver, and historian best known for his work "Connecticut Historical Collections." Barber's work played a significant role in preserving local histories during a period when the United States was still forming its national identity, and many regional histories were at risk of being forgotten. The condition of this book shows loosening to the tot he bindings on the inside of the book spine and is missing the outside cover of the spine with heavy wear to the outside cover of the book with browning also to the pages all due to age and use.
