This lot is a hand carved Western folk art titled, "Prospector" signed by acclaimed Western folk art carver, Dee Flagg. Dee Flagg, (1922-1999), was a well-known artist, who was known for western images in wood carvings and paintings. A colorful character with a handlebar mustache who often dressed like Buffalo Bill Cody, Flagg began carving intricate figures and Old West scenes at age 5, using only hand tools. His 65-year career earned him scores of awards and artistry honors, including Best in Show at the world's largest woodcarver's exhibition in Toronto. In Scottsdale and the Southwest, the name of Dee Flagg is synonymous with authentic life-size carved characters of the Old West. His work was also marketed by Knott's Berry Farm in California and is prominent in the collections of Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. The collection of the Flagg family estate is now a major part of the Bison Museum in Scottsdale, Arizona. This wood carving is stunning in its detail and colour. The piece is in good condition,end of left thumb and right pinky appear missing. Measurements are 16.5"H x 6"L x 3.25"W
