Featured is a Rare Late 18th / Early 19th Century French Provincial Louis XV Carved Cherry Buffet a Deux Corps. The eighteenth century is considered the Golden age of French furniture. It was during this time that the most refined and beautiful Royal furniture was made in the busy Paris workshops of Europe's elite cabinet makers. Beautifully crafted and showcasing naturally aged patina on the wood finish, the buffet sideboard draws inspiration from the Provence region of France, French Provincial furniture is known for its graceful, rustic style, and use of natural materials. The upper section of the buffet features two arch carved two-panel locking doors dressed with oversized iron hinges and large decorative openwork iron escutcheons above two recessed panels; opening to a two shelf compartment. Cornice is beautifully carved with a centre acanthus flanked by dentil design typical of the Provence, Arles region. The bottom section features a Dupont lip three-plank top, two vine inspired carved locking drawers over two locking lower doors (key not included). Detailed acanthus inspired heavy forged pierced escutcheons hardware, with oversized iron hinges. The doors with an attached center panel, open to interior shelving for ultimate storage. Front and side serpentine aprons are nicely carved, scalloped carved front apron features escargot inspired carving with dentil designed diamond typical of Provence, Arles region. Side panels are nicely carved. Excellent quality with superb craftsmanship, the buffet is in wonderfully preserved condition, some finish loss to three-board top. Measures: Top: W 57" H 51" D 20".
