This is an exceedingly rare early set of circa 1840-1860 Gold Rush Era Miners Saddle Bags with U.S. stamping from an old Idaho collection and Montana. This is a unique elongated stature with a cylindrical or tube shape, differing from the traditional saddle bag style. They feature a flap over the single pocket bags and can be secured with leather straps and a metal buckle. These are a very unique pattern with the only other example found offered on Cisco’s for $3,500, referred to as Gold Miners Saddle Bags from the early 19th-century origin of Montana. These saddle bags are marked on one side of the bags reading, "US”. They show good condition overall with some wear present from their age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. They measure 8 3/8" L x 13 1/2" W x 19 5/8" H and weigh 3 pounds and 12 ounces.
