The lot features a very unique Longines Square Tank wrist watch with 10K gold filled case, dating to circa 1945. The piece shows a hand wind (or manual wind), 17 jewels, and Longines 8LN movement. It has a serial number of 6,918,526, dating the piece to circa 1944-1945 (dated from Vintage Watch records). The dial shows a champagne silver dial with Art Deco gold indices, along with a square and round seconds dial. The case is marked, “CASED AND TIMED IN USA BY LONGINES / 10K GOLD FILED / 901071” and is hand marked “51-19”, likely a service denotation. The case shows a curved sapphire (appears to be original but not tested) with Tank or Tanker case, having pronounced, beveled, and polished lugs and replacement alligator leather band. 1940’s 14K GF Longines Tank watches with hand wind Swiss movements, such as the example shown in this lot, regularly sell and are listed for several thousand dollars. The case with lugs (excluding the crown) measures approximately 22.20mm by 35.35mm. The watch appears to be in good working order, but has not been serviced recently.
