For your consideration is this collection of rare Montana bottles. The seven bottle collection includes three beer bottles, two soft drink bottles, a milk bottle, and an olive oil bottle. The most notable bottle is a "Big Chief" design bottle. The bottle is embossed with two Indian chief's heads opposite each other in a stippled field. The top of the bottle reads "Quality Beverages". Around the bottom center the bottle is marked "Minimum Content 6 Flu. Oz./ Bottle Pat'd Dec. 29, 1925." The heel of the bottle is marked "Montana Coca-Cola Bottling Company" and the base is marked "Butte, Mont" Of the beer bottles, one is a large amber bottle with a "Custer Brand/ Montana" label on it. in the center of the label is a likeness of Gen. Geo. Custer. The bottom right portion of the label is missing. The bottle itself is not marked. A second beer bottle is a stubby amber bottle marked "Lucky Premium Beer". This bottle is has the maker's mark for the Owen-Illinois Glass Company; the date code indicates 1966. This bottle was painted later with a Butte, MT scene; the artwork is unsigned. The third beer bottle has a green tint and is marked "Butte Brewing Co." The heel of the bottle is marked "Root/ 27". This bottle was made by The Root Glass Company of Terre Haute, IN in 1927. The Root glass company is notable for their now iconic 1915 Coca-Cola bottle design. The Gallatin Drug Olive Oil, Bud's Beverages, and the Lucky Premium Beer bottles all have in common being manufactured by the Owens-Illinois Glass Company (1927, 1954, and 1966 respectively). The last bottle is a half pint milk bottle marked "Pasteurized/ Western Milk and Cream Company". The bottle was made by Liberty Glass Company, circa. 1940. The bottle is topped with a bottle cap pog from Rainbow Dairy of Butte, Mont. The bottles are all in very good condition. The largest bottle measures 11 1/8" tall.
