This is a fabulous Colt Single Action Army Model 1873 revolver which was shipped from the factory in 1882 and finely refinished in circa 1890-1910 by N. Curry and Brothers San Francisco, California. The revolver is a serial number 76670 chambered in .44 WCF (.44-40) caliber with an etched "Colt. Frontier Six Shooter." 7 1/2 inch round barrel marked at the top with a single line address, "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." The barrel is marked under "44" as well as the trigger guard being marked "44 CAL". The revolver has an expert case hardened frame, trigger and loading gate. The barrel, cylinder, trigger guard and back strap handle are all expertly high blue finish. The piece comes with a factory letter confirming the info as this serial number 76670, .44/40 caliber, blue finish shipped to N. Curry and Brothers San Francisco, California on March 20, 1882 in a shipment of 15. The gun was noted as being refinished by N. Curry and Brothers in circa 1890-1910's as the finish work is much higher than any work done in modern times. Matching serial number 76670 on the frame, trigger guard, butte and the cylinder "6670", all matching. Side of the frame marked, "PAT. SEPT. 19, 1871. " JULY 2, -72 " JAN. 19, -75". All the markings are very crisp with no drag, the bluing is high gloss finish, the wood is perfect and the case hardening is bright deep colors. One of the finest early refinished gun. Truly a fine gun in museum grade finish with factory letter. Antique gun does NOT require an FFL.
