For your consideration are Rare Tombstone Whiskey Bottles, circa 1890 to 1910s. Provenance: Tombstone Western Heritage Museum, Tombstone, Arizona. Included bottles are from N. M. Uri & Co. Kenton Club Whiskey, Harvest King Distilling Co. (Danciger Bros.) Harvest King Baltimore Rye Whiskey, E. S. Pierce Co. Sunny Brook Sour Mash Whiskey, and The American Liquor Co. Blue Hills Bourbon Whiskey. Tombstone, during the territorial period and into the early statehood pre-prohibition years, had a number of historically significant saloons including the Oriental Saloon, Big Nose Kate's Saloon, and the Crystal Palace Saloon. These establishments, especially the Oriental, are linked to significant events in Tombstone's history, including gunfights and the town's boom years. Famous lawman Wyatt Earp sought to get rich by investing in mining or opening businesses in town. A few months after the Oriental Saloon opened, Earp gained control of the lucrative gambling tables and kept a lid on the violence that had made the Oriental scandalous to so many residents of the booming silver camp. The rise of Prohibition forced many distillers to close their doors as demand for legal alcohol disappeared. Of the four listed distillers, none survives to this day. As is still common, often a whiskey was produced by one distiller only to be sold under agreement with another distiller's label. This Sunny Brook Sour Mash is one such case. Sunny Brook was a well-known Kentucky blended whiskey that was popular in the early 1900s. Sunny Brook was initially a blend of whiskies from different distilleries, and they later expanded to have their own extensive aging facilities. The brand name was acquired by Jim Beam Brands Co. in about 1987. The label on the back says, "Bottled Expressly For E. S. PIERCE CO. Worcester, Mass.". The scrolled neck Sunny Brook bottle is amethyst glass. The Harvest King bottle is embossed on the reverse, "Harvest King Distilling CO. Baltimore Kansas City, MO. Distributing Warehouses". All bottles have original polychrome paper labels. The bottles show great condition overall with little wear present and no signs of major damage noted. No cracks or chips present. Respective measurements are 11.75"H, 12"H, 10.5"H, 12.25"H, collective weight is 6lb, 2oz.
