RARE US Officers Engraved Trapdoor Indian Tacked

This is an exceedingly rare U.S. Springfield Officers Model Trapdoor .45-70 with engraved side plate that has been decorated with Plains Indian Native American brass tacking. The firearm shows a classic Officers Model 1875 side receiver showing fully engraving surrounding the U.S. Eagle seal. The barrel shows V / P / Flame / P markings as well as markings underneath the barrel. There is a serial number of 199325, based on the Model 1873 serial numbers places this at circa 1881-1882. The stock shows Plains Indian Brass tacking as well as an "I X I" carved into on side and "S / 8" stamped in the half moon or horse / buffalo track tacked pattern. Butte plate is marked US AND SC. The entire stock has a dark finish which is fading is spots. There is an "R" stamped on the top of the barrel and the elevation sight is marked with an "R" as well as 5 / 4 / 3 / B / 2 / 1". This is a unique and rifle showing both engraving, carbine size and brass tacking. Measures overall 41.5-inches long, .45-70 caliber. Breach lever fuctions, breach opens and closes, hammer pulls back clicking three times and the trigger releases the hammer; overall gun appears to function. The metal has various pitting and the wood shows some loss to finish, brass has some patina. ANTIQUE FIREARM serial number 199325, NO FFL. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
