Featured in this lot is this rare Van Briggle studios pottery vessel collection. In 1899 Artus Van Briggle stepped off the train in Colorado Springs, though Artus was a brilliant painter, his artistic passions were most famously expressed in one of history’s oldest arts - pottery. There are three pottery vessels in this collection. The first is the smallest that shows a polygonal base with a cylindrical top that shows swaying floral decoration to the side walling of the pottery vessel; the pottery vessel is signed on the bottom 'Van Briggle' and C.L. Spgs and shows pencil marking that reads: Manna from Mabel 1939. The second is a excurvate cylindrical side walling wth a flattened base and foot; The bottom of this pottery vessel is signed 'Van Briggle' and 'Colo Spg'. The third pottery vessel is a lipped vase with blue coloring and features pressed floral decoration to the side walling of the vase; The vase is signed on the bottom 'Van Briggle' 'Co Springs' 'vg LCB'. The condition of this collection of pottery is good with no obvious signs of damage and in good overall condition. The measurements of these pottery vessels range from 4 3/4" x 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" to 5 3/8" x 4 1/4" x 4 1/2".
