This is a Rare First Edition, "Wonders of the Yellowstone" 1873, edited by James Richardson. This is one of the earliest known Yellowstone Park books. The piece shows seventeen (17) excellent engraving illustrations and was published by Scribner, Armstrong and Company in 1873. In 1872, Yellowstone was the first national park created in the U.S. and is also widely held to be the first national park in the world. This book was written 1872 and published one year after the park was created in 1873. This rare book is in amazingly good condition considering its 150 year old. The book shows a wonderful maroon clothbound hardcover with gilt gold accents and a campfire and wooded depiction on the front cover. Spine cloth is detached from spine but included. Cover edges exhibit scuffing, gold gilt lettering and accents show fading. Intact pages exhibit age tanning and foxing throughout, no other obvious marring noted. Measures 5.25"W x 7.25"L x 1"D
