Featured in this lot is a beautiful Red Hartebeest shoulder mount, prepared by a professional taxidermist. The red hartebeest, also called the Cape hartebeest or Caama, is a subspecies of the hartebeest found in Southern Africa. More than 130,000 individuals live in the wild. The red hartebeest is closely related to the tsessebe and the topi. This hartebeest shows a nice light brown / red color throughout with darker spots towards the top of its head. The z-shaped curved horns show rings towards the bottom and gradually smooth out towards the tips. They show great symmetry and have no abnormalities or damage present. The length of the horns measure 20 1/8" in length and 9 1/2" in circumference. Overall the mount shows good condition with slight wear present from its handling over the years, but no major signs of wear or damage is noted. It measures 24 1/2" L x 12 1/2" W x 42 1/2" H and weighs 16 lb 10 oz.*
