Featured in this lot is a Rare Remington Arms-UMC .44 Henry (Flat) Cartridge Box, circa 1911 to 1914. Provenance: Tombstone Western Heritage Museum, Tombstone, Arizona. Proper tan coloured 2 piece cardboard box with green lid label with "Remington/UMC" red circle logo on the top and end labels. Top label is marked, .44 HENRY (FLAT) 50 Rim Fire Cartridges red circle logo Trade Mark "Remington UMC" bullet picture marked "44 HENRY FLAT MODEL 1866" 200 GRS. BULLETS REMINGTON ARMS-UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE Co. Ammunition & Firearms UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE WORKS 350 Bridgeport, Conn., U.S.A. The Union Metallic Cartridge Company (UMC) was an early manufacturer of cartridge ammunition for small arms. UMC produced ammunition specifically for the Winchester Model 1866 rifle and revolvers, often referred to as the ".44 Henry Flat/Model 1866" cartridge. In 1912 they merged with Remington Arms. Original Remington-UMC green label on the top and on the sides. Original Remington-UMC orange guarantee label on the bottom. Original front face label is marked, "Specially adapted for Model 1866 Rifles and Carbines, and other arms". Wear and soiling from age and handling exhibited on box. Measures 2.375"W x 4.625"L x 1.5"D approx., weight is 31.2gms.
