Scarce Remington Model 25 pump action rifle chambered in .25-20 Winchester caliber. This was one of the very few pump rifles chambered for the popular and still loaded .25-20 Win. Cartridge. The M-25 was only made in limited numbers from 1923-1935. After the stock market crash of 1929 and the beginning of the Great Depression, very few rifles of any kind were produced due to the difficult economic conditions in America. Because of this, the Model 25 had a very short period of limited production before being discontinued. A takedown design, it was a very popular rifle with small game hunters, trappers, travelers and boaters of the time. It was also very popular general purpose rifle often found on farms and ranches. This example with early serial number 8544 is in excellent condition inside and out. It retains nearly all the blue on the 24” barrel and magazine with only normal minor wear where the magazine tube slides through the retaining bands. Similarly, the receiver shows nearly all the original blue. The stock and forearm are generally excellent with good wood to metal fit and the stock retains the original Remington marked crescent butt plate. It also has the original buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar and small blade/bead front sight. All Remington markings are sharp and clear. The action is tight as is the takedown. The safety button functions correctly and the bore is minty bright. This is a difficult model rifle to find in any condition as production time was short and most saw hard use in the hunting fields or on farms and ranches. It is rare to find an example with this much finish and excellent+ bore condition. The rifle weighs 5lbs 4oz. Serial Number: 8544. This firearm qualifies as a Curio & Relic firearm, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
