Featured in this lot we have a E. Remington & Sons New Model single action army revolver chambered in .44 caliber. E. Remington & Sons was in operation from 1816 to 1888 at which point it was acquired and the name changed to Remington Arms. This revolver originated from the late 1860's with a rim fire conversion allowing it to fire cartridges. The pistol displays a 8" octagonal barrel, five shot cylinder, walnut grips, single action trigger & hammer, front mounted loading lever, and fixed sights. The top of the barrel is marked reading "PATENTED SEPT. 14. 1858 E. REMINGTON & SONS ILION. NEW YORK. U.S.A. NEW MODEL". The loading lever is missing the retaining post preventing it from locking. Mechanically the revolver is currently inoperable with the hammer currently locked. Overall the pistol shows fair condition with wear across the piece due to age and use. The revolver weighs 2lbs 10oz. Serial Number: 88739. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
