Featured in this lot we have a Colt Model 1849 percussion cap revolver chambered in .31 caliber. The pistol was manufactured in 1858 making this a pre Civil War manufactured revolver. A fine original example .31 caliber, five-shot revolver that found favor with Civil War officers and enlisted men as personal weapons. Many of these also saw service in the gold fields of California. One of Colt’s most popular designs that was large enough for aimed fire, but small enough to conceal in a waste band or unobtrusive holster. They also found favor with gamblers and “ladies of the evening.” Barrel correctly marked “ADDRESS SAM’L COLT NEW-YORK U.S. America”. Nice overall aged patina with a worn roll engraved cylinder scene depicting a stage coach holdup. Excellent walnut grips are without chips or cracks, fit beautifully, and still retain fine original varnish finish. One of the most popular and successful of the Colt percussion revolvers and a key model for any Colt, Civil War or Old West collection. The revolver weighs 1lb 10oz. Serial Number: 146787. This firearm qualifies as an Antique, and does not require FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
