Presented in this lot is an Original Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railway Etching Lithograph of "Union Depot of the Great Rock Island and Albert Lea Routes Chicago", circa 1887. Also known as the "LaSalle Street Station", Union Depot train station in Chicago was remodeled with the major 1887 addition shown here. Union Depot was part of the rehabilitation of the South Canal street neighborhoods. This impressive lithograph details Chicago before the advent of automobiles displaying horse-drawn carriages, wagons and horse-drawn street cars seen in the foreground while men, women and children pedestrians are dressed in Victorian style clothing. Amazing detail of the Neo-Gothic structure is visible, the railroad companies' names, "Lake Shore & Michigan Southern" and "Chicago Rock Island & Pacific" are seen on the front façades above the third floor windows. Interestingly, the left tower clock face appears in the reverse of the two right side clock faces. The lithograph text below the title says, "(Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railway.)
